FALL 2023 - We had a Field Springer litter of 10 born 10/30! A couple puppies are available for non-hunting/active lifestyle homes. Click links for parent bios, pedigrees and OFA health links. Both parents are leggy, lovely, athletic and high drive. Speck has a softer temperament but she has super mutant stamina and is ridiculously smart. Pod is a proven producer and his kids are competing in field trials (placements), hunt tests (MH titled), obedience, agility, rally-o, nose work, flyball, FastCats - and two are Search and Rescue (SAR) cadaver dogs.

Our Puppy 411 Page is required reading before contacting us for info. Our puppies are raised in the house, not a shed or outdoor kennel. Our litters are livestreamed 24/7 from birth until they leave. Hellfire is an experienced and accomplished AKC Breeder of Merit, Trupanion breeder with 20+ years of OFA health results in the public database.
We breed for excellence. Although we are no longer actively competing with our own springers (while we chase Sussex points), many of our puppy homes are and we enjoy living vicariously through their success. The quality of our dogs will ALWAYS stay high. There is a high probability that we will run on another hunt test ESS in the next two years as we wrap up the Sussex shenanigans.
I had no idea some of my puppy owners were doing this fast growing sport, but I DO know how exhausted I am after raising a litter of these little cheetahs! Good grief, three of the Top 5 FastCat springers in the US are my puppies.
AKC FastCat is a running/lure coursing sport - the dogs chase a plastic lure (rabbit) about a course and their running speeds are clocked over a 100 yard dash. It's super fun. I've seen it at dog shows and have always wanted to try it, but the lines are so long we can never get in.
I said the final farewell to my beloved Mia on August 10th. It was a surreal experience as her Smudgie great granddaughters were being born via c-section in the adjacent operating room. I hugged her as she closed her eyes, while hearing the newborns push out their first wails. I felt horribly numb and ambivalent as they handed me the box of babies...but, life goes on. My entire second generation of outstanding Hellfire bitches are now gone.
Mia was the last daughter from my foundation bitch Maia, Abitt of Hellfire MH. Her sire was Toby, FC AFC CFC Abitts Highlander Lord MH RE VCD1 OAP OAJ. She was 14. Her daughter Cate, American/Canadian FTW Hellfire's Fling in Decatur SH was her magnum opus.
I already miss her so much.
I get asked all the time about our "facility". As a tiny, HOBBY breeder that only has 2-3 litters a year, I don't have a facility, I have a private residence just like you... and I am not open to the public for tours. The very idea is absurd.
We have 360 acres with plenty of room for dogs to run, explore and hunt...and they do! We are fortunate to have a climate controlled indoor kennel of 8 runs. We do not keep intact male springers on the property. Our dogs are not prisoners and the springers are kenneled only at night, when we are having horrible weather (muddy floors - OY!) and during heat cycles. The Sussex are full-time house dogs. Our property is gated with several security cameras strategically placed to keep track of spaniel shenanigans. There are two, one acre puppy and dog yards, and a 40 acre fenced "yard" for the house dogs.
Oh, and Yellowstone National Park is about 90 minutes away. A fun factoid: Yellowstone the TV show is filmed in Ravalli County, in western Montana...pretty far away from the real Yellowstone. I don't watch the show but I hear it's great and I sure get lots of questions about it!
