Hellfire English Springer and Sussex Spaniels

6/7 Weeks

The puppies are growing like weeds, getting stronger and more coordinated every day.

We got a break in our weather and the demanding little hellions have been spending a lot of time outside, which has really spurred along the potty training and made my life a LOT tidier. There is no way they will let you sleep in.  When they need to go out in the morning they scream the alarm, "LET'S GO NOW!" Then they go outside and all do their poopies and potties. It's been AWESOME. Except the screaming part. There are a couple that will be real buggers to crate train. I'll try to get most of it done for you though.

I put a few new photos in the album and a cute video of the puppies taking on Chica in Tug-a-War, below.

12/1 update: Puppies need to be picked up by the weekend of the 17/18th. They can leave anytime after the 10th. I have a couple flying out which adds extra trips to the vet, and out of town, so releasing the puppies earlier is the best chance we all have to avoid the holiday chaos. Not to mention any delay the arrival of Singer's puppies will cause. When it rains it pours...

This weekend the puppies go to Bozeman to get their eyes checked and will be microchipped. They will have first immunizations and a vet visit next Friday, 9 December. 

 

2012 Cover Girl

I wasn't going to put together a calendar for 2012, but just took this today and had to use it.  Navy has been after that wascaly wabbit for years and the darned thing finally got old, slowed down and zigged the wrong way.  Nicely done, Beans. :)

I'll only be printing 100 wall calendars this time and hope to have it finished next week.

5 weeks

Really being challenged to keep the puppies clean and entertained, but I've survived to the 5 week marker! Woo hoo! A few new pictures are in the photo album. Be sure to check the above YouTube link every now and then as I don't put all the videos on the blog.

Our weather is at sub-zero temps so the puppies are stuck inside fulltime, but they are at least wearing themselves out by racing around the house. They are getting into EVERYTHING. The downside is that it's harder to get any decent pictures of them. Even though I'm still sorting out the who gets what puppy issue, I will be sending out purchase contracts this next week and need them signed and back in the next couple weeks.  Sorry about the crap holiday timing. 

Hope all the Spanky X Toby puppies are doing well and you are enjoying them. Chica is an awesome puppy with a great personality, was a breeze to potty train, is beautifully crate trained, can heel on a leash, sit and down and is reliably retrieving  a puppy dummy. Plus,  she can "tunnel" and "chute"! Not bad for 15 weeks old. :D

Highlander Clan

"Don't go sissy, there are orks about!"

I gave the puppy clan highlander names and they got a crate tonight. Not because I think it's good for their development nearly as  much as it's good for mine. They are relentless and putting them in it for a few minutes is the only way I can clean and tidy up their play area! Seriously, eight puppies can poop a LOT and I'm convinced they think it's a funny game  to poop as fast as I clean. You try keeping a borg unit that never sleeps clean. Go ahead. I dare ya! ;)

Weaning has commenced

The puppies are getting little teeth and Zeeza is showing signs of nursing fatigue. The 6-8 cups of food and meat momma eats a day just isn't enough to hold her weight steady, so weaning has commenced. 

I'd like to say that time is helping me make up my mind as to what puppy I'll be keeping, but with four big, strong girls to choose from, don't be surprised if it takes me 8-9 weeks to do that.  All of them are vivacious, happy campers, but I am leaning heavily toward the big, bold white and liver female though. For now. :)

I know I'm way behind on the photo album, but I'll get caught up soon. Things are just becoming interesting!

Moved into the new digs. Tried to add markers to ID the puppies, but youtube was being testy. 

 

 

Puppy Playtime

Getting ready to move the puppies into the living area of the house. The puppies are changing just about every day now, their coordination is growing in quantum leaps and bounds and they can really play hard! 

It's been six years since I've had a litter this large, so I'm sure things will get real interesting from this point on. ;)  

 

 

 

Occupational Spazards

Poor Roobster. What a double whammy! Cheat grass down both ears and another war wound from the field. Guess we'll delay the spay surgery for a few more weeks.
